Shhhh… lean in a little closer. I want to share a powerful secret with you that will double, even triple your home party plan sales and cut your work in half. How would you like to connect with anyone in the room to gain instant rapport and build a huge check or team almost effortlessly?
Well, it’s very possible if you master one word – personalities.
Yep, it’s that simple, but that difficult at the same time. Although we are complex creatures, we all fall into four major personality types. We have a little of each personality in us, but typically a primary and a secondary that are shaped from the time we are born.
Did you ever just “click” with someone and it seemed like you knew them for years? I would bet your next commission check it was because you were the same personality type. You thought alike, acted alike, and responded to outside influences the same way. And chances are you are attracted to and repelled by the same type of people too. Peas in a pod, birds of a feather, thick and – well, you get point.
So what’s a person’s personality have to do with selling? After all lotion is lotion and candles are candles right? Don’t we buy lotion to keep our skin from drying and candles to keep our sweaty socks from overpowering the house? Well, yes and no.
True, lotion does pretty much the same thing for everyone who buys it, but people buy it for different reasons largely influences by their personality. Let’s say you have a $20 bottle of the latest craze in designer lotion. Some people will buy it to impress others. Some will buy it because the ingredients are all natural and no animal testing was done. Others, because they know it would brighten someone they love’s day. And alas, some won’t buy at all because they just don’t get what a $20 bottle of lotion can do that a $2 bottle can’t.
And with that little lesson (and less dry elbows) you now see the power of understanding personalities and how they affect your sales. You must learn to connect with each group if you expect them to buy at the end of the evening.
